What Causes Pain In Stomach After Drinking Water?

Question: i am a gastric bypass patient, 2 years out rny. I have recently found that when i drink water on my stomach aches for 30 minutes or so afterward. I am not drinking with meals only on empty stomach as per by bypass team, could i have an ulcer or something that water is hurting?
Brief Answer:
What happens when you eat?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this stomach aches after drinking water. An ulcer should not really be aggravated by water. I will like to know if you feel this same ache after eating? How is the volume of water compared to the volume of food? Could you be drinking more than the stomach can accommodate at once? For how long does this ache lasts?
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

i have no pain when I eat and i carefully portion. I only experience pain when I drink plain water, i sip slowly so as to not gulp or take in air, i do not use straws, but i feel pain every time i drink water. pain last for about 20-30 minutes
Brief Answer:
If water hurts, food should as well if it were an ulcer or something!
Detailed Answer:
HI,
If you always drink on an empty stomach, the initial peristaltic movements might explain this pain. It is unlikely to be an ulcer or any other condition otherwise food will do same. Probably, this pain will be felt more after going for long hours without taking anything which supports this hypothesis.
