What Causes Pain In The Chest And Arms Despite Negative ECG Results?

Question: Hi doctor,
I have small pain in around my chest and in my arms sometimes. This is scaring me... I went to the hospital few weeks ago for another reason (i felt like i was gonna faint) and they madr an ECG. The results were good.
They gave me some diazepam for 1 week but i did not take it.
if i was at risk to make a heart attack. would that ECG prevent it ?
should i worry ?
Thank you
i am 33 years old, i smoke and i work a lot..

My opinion as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome back on HCM!
Your symptoms are not typical of a heart attack.
Besides, a normal ECG is very reassuring that nothing serious is going on.
Anyway, considering the fact that a normal resting ECG does not exclude possible myocardial ischemia in 100% of the cases, I would recommend performing some other tests to help totally exclude any cardiac disorders :
- cardiac enzymes
- a cardiac ultrasound
- an exercise cardiac stress test.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
