What Causes Pain In The Groin Area?

Question: For the past week I have had a cold, within that week I have started hurting real bad in my left groin as if someone kicked me in my sack, I can get it to ease by sitting in the recliner with my legs crossed, abrother-in-law attributes it to my back where I also have 3 buldging disk, I am a male 58 yrs. old, it has sxcared me thinking of prostate cancer but no one in my family has ever had cancer, what could this be?
Brief Answer:
Inguinal hernia can be the reason.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
If you have been coughing due to the cold, groin pain can be caused by an inguinal hernia. If so, the pain should get more intense when lifting something heavy or coughing.
Prostate cancer does not give such symptoms for sure. However it is good to have PSA checked once a year.
I suggest you to consult your doctor and have groin ultrasound done.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
