What Causes Pain In The Left Upper Quadrant Of The Abdomen After Injury?
Question: my son fell hard on his left side and with the impetus of the dive rolled onto his tummy while catching at a baseball game, around 5:30 pm today. On the way home, in the car , about 3hours later he complained of pain under his lower left ribs. Severe pain that lasted until he started walking about. Now he's been sleeping, but I'm wandering if I should be concerned with spleen injury, since his abdomen was what hit the ground.
Brief Answer:
Get abdominal US for any laceration
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking!
I appreciate the concerns and as it had been a trauma to the left upper quadrant of the abdomen and pain followed by it, though relieved later on, which is a good sign but it is always good and wise to be on the safer road.Go to Er get a radiological work up like abdominal ultrasound of the abdomen.Had there been any laceration god forbid, it would definitely be shown on it. It is just a prophylactic maneuver and the odds for it are least likely.Doing it is just to be out of the woods.Meanwhile some pain medicines like tylenol etc would suffice
I hope it helps.take care and dont forget to close the discussion please.
