What Causes Pain In The Leg While Walking?
You need to be evaluated for an inflammatory muscle disease.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.
I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, we need to exclude a primary muscle disease such as polymyositis (inflammation of muscles). This would require a blood test (serum CPK), EMG (electromyography) and biopsy of muscles.
Prednisolone is useful for treating inflammatory muscle disease and it is safe. If the disease is confirmed, you may require a higher dose of Prednisolone and additional medicines.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow-up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,

The usual safe dose of prednisolone is 1 mg per kg body weight.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more information.
In some patients, blood tests may be normal, however, muscle biopsy shows the disease. In any case, it can be decided after the EMG. If the biopsy is planned, prednisolone should be stopped for some time, as it would mask the biopsy findings.
The usual safe long-term dose of prednisolone is 1 mg per kg body weight per day.
