What Causes Pain In The Neck Radiating To The Arm?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Apr 2017
Question: I have severe pain & pressure at the base of my neck on left radiating down my arm across shoulder and down shoulderblade, HAD acdf at c5/6 & c6.6 last july with follow up pt for 6 months, nerve block in January. Now taking baclofen & naproxen. Considering switching to etoldac but not sure if it would be better than naproxen or should I ask to go back on tramadol. Have a CT scan scheduled tomorrow to see what the issue is now but until then in pretty excrutiating pain. What is best medication at this time for this type of next pain?? Naproxen, etoldac, tramadol, ketoralac or other? Should I see my normal Dr at this point?

Brief Answer:
tramadol will be the best option

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

Considering the amount of pain that you are going through, etodolac or ketorolac will be less effective in reducing the pain.

Naproxen is a good option but it will take long time to start its action.

For immediate relief from pain, either tramadol or diclofenac will be the most effective options.

Prefer tramadol over diclofenac because of its safety profile.

I suggest you to take a dose of tramadol .If you do not get relief from it then you can think of consulting your normal doctor.

I do not feel there is immediate need of seeing him at this moment of time.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
