Question: Hi Doctor,

I wassuffering from upperback pain sice 2 weeks went to see a neurophysician. He did some chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture and the pain was relieved. Yesterday, I again experienced pain in neck, collar, upperback, insides of upper arm and sides of chest. my Gp says this could be a case of cervical spondolytis. My xray of c-spine CAP lateral view was normal. My vit-d lvel was 5ng/ml which was low. I am taking 50000UI D3 weekly for 2 months. Could you please help me, was ,my GP right and how can it be treated and whom to consult.

Brief Answer:
You may be having cervical spondylitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Pain in neck with radiating pain in arm is due to nerve compression in neck. It is called cervical spondylitis. Your neck x ray is completely normal. So you do not need to worry about this. I have following suggestions for you.
1.avoid keeping neck in same position for long time. Also avoid watching TV or laptop for long time. Do not travel a lot and avoid jerk to your neck.
2.avoid using very big pillow. Neck muscles physiotherapy is helpful.
3.take Muscle relaxant like Myoril or myospaz tablet twice daily.
4.tablet Pregabalin M one daily at night time.
5.vitamin D tablet should be stopped now. Get repeat blood test. As excessive vitamin D is also harmful.
6.hot water fomentation and volitran gel is also useful.
An orthopaedic doctor is best to consult in case you need prescription for above mentioned medicines.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if their is any other followup questions.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
You can get MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As I said that your x rays are normal because disease is n very early stage. Being a computer programmer you are susceptible for progression so you need to learn neck muscle strengthening exercises and do it regularly.
There is no need to get Mri but if symptoms persist then you can get Mri in future. At present just follow my advise and you will feel better.

Hello Sir,

My pinched nerve will be eased, if I strengthen my neck and avoid working on computer for few months and maintaining posture while after starting work later.
