What Causes Pain In The Penis After TURP Operation?
Question: I have just had a turp operation. The catheter removed at 6.30 a.m. I have just urinated for the first time and the pain in the penis and adjacent was excruciating, so much so I nearly collapsed. I was expecting some pain but nothing of this severity.

1) How many days have passed after doing TURP?
Normally we remove the catheter on 3rd or forth day after the surgery by this time inflammation and irritation of urethra subsides and pain is comparatively less .
Do not worry take antibiotics and pain killers for 5 days ..Ensure to drink more water this will help to reduce dysuria,
The problem will get resolved within a week.

This is the third day after the op. I was expecting pain but not to the excruciating degree that I experienced. I have been given painkillers now but I do not want the catheter to be replaced. Will the degree of pain reduce, if so how long?
