What Causes Pain In The Right Lumbar Region?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Jun 2014
Question: I have been experiencing pain in the right lumbar region for the past few hours. It feels like a sharp pain as well as if something is constantly moving around. I am suspecting trapped gas but i am not sure. I have been passing gas but it feels like i should be passing more. I also feel sorta naseous. Last night i did drink 2 sodas with pizza about 3 hours before bed...not sure if that matters.

Side note: I am on prescription Omeprazole (20mg) for my stomach issues. I was on it 2 years ago and i quit but this week i was put back on it due to stomach issues.

Brief Answer:
A clinical examination will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that your symptoms can be due to indigestion but other causes should also be considered.

I would advise that you should get following investigations done :-
1. Urine examination.
2. Kidney Function Test ( KFT ).
3. Ultrasound of KUB region.

You should take Domperidone 30mg along with Omeprazole. Dicyclomine can be taken for severe pain in abdomen. A probiotic along with digestive enzyme preparation containing pepsin and fungal diastase after meals will be helpful.

A clinical examination along with investigations will help in planning further medical management.

Eat light meals prepared under hygienic conditions.
Also drink lots of water daily.

I hope this is helpful to you.
If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Thanks.
