What Causes Pain In Throat When I Swallow?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Jun 2016
Question: Hello... when I swallow I experience pain one side although it does not feel like a regular sore throat. Also under my chin the same side feels slightly swollen and tender when you press it. I wonder if you can help please.

On another note I have a swelling just under my left breast area which I have had for a few weeks now I have had an ultra sound which did not show up any lymph inflation. Its more like an area approx. 4 inches by 2.5inches rather than a hard lump. It does not particularly hurt although it is a bit tender. I am due to go back to my GP following the ultra sound but I would be interested in any comments that you may have.
Many thanks.

Brief Answer:
Septic focus with sub-mental lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/43 - pain on one side on swallowing - does not feel like regular sore throat - slight swelling and tenderness on pressing under the chin on the same side - swelling just under left breast for few weeks - ultrasound done - 4'' X 2.5'' - a bit tender - going back to GP ..
The most probable cause of pain on one side and possible a lymph node under the chin is either tonsillitis on the same side, or an ulcer or a septic focus that cause the painful swallowing and possibly a lymph node.
You may need a course of an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medicine on clinical evaluation and examination by your GP.
Please post the report of the ultrasonography as it should have mentioned something for which you have got it done.

I hope this answer helps you for an early diagnosis and proper treatment, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
