What Causes Pain In Under Arm Across Chest?

Question: I have had pains starting from under my arm across my chest and to the other underarm quite severe but if I sit down and rest for a few minutes. gradually it has become more frequent. the last 3 nights, I wake with the pains and have to get up and sit for a time. then back to bed, get a little sleep then again.
