What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen While Having Gall Stones?
My wife was having pain in upper abdomen for past 2 weeks and was having acidity medicines as suggested by doctor. (Pantop D and Norflox TZ initially). Now she is having following medicines as suggested by General surgeon whom we visited on 16th July 2015. He also suggested to go for whole abdomen ultrasound.
1. Pantocid (Twice daily)
2. Meftal SPAS (Twice daily)
3. Taxim-O 200 (Twice daily)
4. Mucaine Syrup (4 times daily)
Today she went for ultrasound and doctor told that she is having multiple stones of 6-8 mm in Gall bladder. I will send you the report by Monday (20th July).
I have following queries:
1. Should she continue taking the above 4 medicine of acidity? We have not shown the report to surgeon yet as he will be available on Monday.
2. What are the options for curing stones in gall bladder?
3. What are the dietary precautions she should take?
Regards,
XXXX

Hi.
Thanks for your query for your wife.
Ultrasonography has revealed the diagnosis well: multiple stones of 6-8 mm in Gall bladder
You have following queries:
1. Should she continue taking the above 4 medicine of acidity? We have not shown the report to surgeon yet as he will be available on Monday.
>Yes, please continue the medicines as before as most of the patients with gall stones have acidity problems.
2. What are the options for curing stones in gall bladder?
Only option is Surgical, Cholecystectomy.
3. What are the dietary precautions she should take?
> Not much, just stop the oily and spicy food, otherwise can have normal soft and bland diet.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications or if you feel there is a gap of communication.
Thanks for your reply.
Few more queries regarding stones in gall bladder of my wife.
1. Can she dance?
2. Can she drink/booze?
depends upon inflammation, gastritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes, she can dance if there is no inflammation in the gall bladder.
Drinks can have an adverse effect on gastritis which can be an accompaniment of gall stones.
I hope this clears your doubts.
Thanks for your reply.
The reply was a bit technical for me. What I understood from your reply is that
- She can dance if there is no swelling, pain etc in the gall bladder/abdomen.
- Drinks can have an adverse effect and can increase the pain so she should not drink at all till the surgery happens.
Please confirm my understanding.
You are right.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
You have interpreted it perfectly well.
So no dancing if there is inflammation- swelling- pain in the gall bladder or any other area of abdomen.
And no for the drink/alcohol.
