Brief Answer:
Sharp Tingling Burning Pain in Legs, Feet is Polyneuropathy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthCareMagic.com I am Dr.Bruno Mascarenhas, and I am happy to answer your queries.

I have ready your question with care and understand that you have Sharp, Tingling and Burning Pains in your Legs and Feet. You want to know what this could be.

This is most likely to be Sensory Neuropathy. It means that the nerves which carry sensation from your Legs and Feet are affected.

Nerve Fibres are called Axons. There is a Covering over Nerves. This covering Sheath is called as Myelin. You can imagine the Axon as Copper Wire and Myelin as the Insulation sheath over the wire

This Myelin can be damaged due to various reasons. Few such reasons are Diabetes, Low Blood Flow, Vitamin Deficiency etc. When the Myelin is damaged, the insulation is lost. So there is "cross talk" between the nerve fibres.

The impulses from the fibres carrying touch sensation mix with those carrying pain. As a result, touch is perceived as Partly pain. This leads to the Tingling and Burning Pain in Legs and Feet.

The treatment is quite Simple. We have to identify the cause of this Neuropathy and Treat it. If that is because of diabetes, we have to control blood sugar. If the cross talk is because of vitamin deficiency, you need to take vitamin supplements.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
