What Causes Pain Under Armpit To Elbow?
Question: My dad has pain under his left arm pit gong down to elbow and then across to left nipple. He has limited use of left arm has constant pain 5/10 then has pain attacks lasting from 15mins upwards when pin is excruciating 10/10
He has been to cardiologist had ECG etc and been given all clear with heart
He has had full blood counts all good with everything d no levels raised
He has had MRI ad X-rays of chest and shoulder all good
He has no lesions or cancer present
He has been to neurologist and all ok no nerve damage
He has been to sports doctor who gave cortisone injection into shoulder which made no difference
When he gets attack he needs to lie down, he does not sleep very well and can't work

It seems he has severe pain which may be coming from a nerve - possibly getting inflamed or compressed. If the pain is this severe - might consider asking a pain specialist to see him. Sometimes a nerve block can be done until things are sorted out.
I assume there is no rash - sometimes shingles can cause pain like this. would also make sure his doctors have studied complete blood counts, metabolic panels and inflammatory markers.
Sometimes a course of oral steroids would be reasonable for this type of thing.

The Neurologist has ruled out being problem with nerves and have advised not have a nerve block done and it is not shingles - can there be anything with his stomach to cause this?
