Question: 3 wks ago extreme nausea and vomiting...2 ER's in 24hrs..1 wk prior to that severe pain for about 5 days under rib cage area. I have passed stool of different colors from lighter to 2nite odd kidney bean stool in w/ regular color. intermittent pain continued a few times, sometimes sharp; and one bout of vomiting, but had Phenergan from md..that stopped. Initial ultrasound of the Gallbladder, Pancreas, and liver normal. I feel something is wrong; and plan to see PCP for GI referral. Do you feel that is appropriate?
Brief Answer:
can be gastroenteritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Noted your Medical History of asthma, thyroid, surgical menopause, Sjorgrens Fibromyalgia, steroids.
Present histoery:
You had pain under rib cage area about 4 weeks back- nausea and vomiting 3 weeks back which got OK with phenergan- stool colors and consistency- normal ultrasound- intermittent pain...
After going through the history you have provided and normal ultrasound report, I can clinically confer a diagnosis of gastroenteritis. (Pain-nausea-vomiting- altered stool- intermittent pain complex).
I think a proper course of an antibiotic and blood tests to rule out other conditions should have solved your problem. If you are still troubled by symptoms, you should discuss about this possibility with your doctors.
I hope the other medical conditions from which you are suffering are under control and investigated through.
If the course of antibiotics has not helped you , a referral to GI is a good idea.
Hope this helps.
Regards
