Question: I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA AND DEGENERTIVE DISEASE. IN THE LAST MONTHS I HAVE HAD WEARING PAIN ON MY LEFT SIDE UNDER MY BREAST. tHIS IS A NEW PAIN. SHOULD I CONSIDER THE PAIN MIGHT BE CAUSED BY SOMETHING ELSE I AM 75 YEARS OF AGE.

Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

This kind of pain is usually seen due to fibromyalgia,but other causes like intercostal neuritis needs a consideration.A nerve between two adjacent ribs,if inflammed can cause such kind of pain under the breast.

Referred pain from an underlying lung or abdominal pathology can also give rise to such pain.

I would suggest you to get a chest X ray and a ultrasound of the abdomen done to find out the exact cause.

Take anti inflammatory tablets with a chest rib belt around the painful area.
Apply local analgesic spray followed by hot fomentation.
