Question: Hello, I have had some sharp pain along my lower rib cage on the left side for 2 days now. Hurts to the touch, hurts when lying on stomach or side. Fell Saturday night from a step stool. Did not notice rib pain until Monday however and it has gotten worse every day now.

Brief answer
......this could be a fracture of rib

Detailed answer....
Hello,
I have read your query and understand your concern. Your description of symptoms is highly suggestive of  rib fracture. Get the X ray done as early as possible.
Till you consult a doctor and get the X ray done, start taking ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day,do local icing 3-4 times a day and avoid lifting weight.
Further treatment would depend upon the report of X ray.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
