What Causes Pain While Swallowing After Consuming Harpic?
Question: My wife swallowed harpic but she is feeling light pain while eating or drinking water.Shez not feeling in taste.Can you suggest is any thing serious.She does not feel in pain in her stomach

HARPIC contains hydrochloride acid and other chemicals like sodium alkyle benzene sulphonate and sodium alkene sulphonate.These chemicals are corrosives and are mucosal irritants and can cause abdominal pain,ulcers in gastrointestinal system and respiratory distress.
If the quantity is small then nothing serious would happen but a large amount can cause bleeding.
Don't induce vomiting,rinse the mouth well,take gelusil antacid 15-20 ml and rush to the hospital.

Thanks Dr. Actually shez not sure whether she swallowed but XXXXXXX of 5 to 10 ml. She had dinner n had no prob in stomach but she feels little pain in her throat n not ready to consult dr now.Can you suggest any medicine

Since your wife is not sure of the quantity consumed,it would be best on your part to go to the hospital immediately to avoid any possible complication.
It is better to be safe rather than feel sorry later on.
Take gelusil 15-20 ml and go to the hospital.

Dr is there any symptoms that shows us the harpic causing any imternal injury.She feels comfortable but only prob is little pain in her throat , shez not willing to consult dr.Can I take risk till morning if shez feeling ok.

Other symptoms are pain abdomen,nausea,palpitations etc.
You may wait till morning but give her gelusil 15 ml every 3-4 hours.
