What Causes Painful Boil On Ear After Scratching It?
Question: Happy new year. Need one help from you. Suddenly couple of days back there was itching in my right ear & unknowingly I scratched the same. Now there is small boil there. It's paining now. I need suggestion on the medicine to dry that. Pls help thanks.

Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having ear pain.
As per your clinical details, it appears to be furuncle or otitis externa secondary to trauma (scratch.)
For pain, take simple pain killer like brufen 400mg twice daily.
In case of spreading infection (ear drum) or persistent ear pain with ear discharge you need oral antibiotics and aural (per ear drops).
Mean time, do not put water (keep dry cotton plug) during bath. Avoid freezer products (ice creams/curd), cold or sinus infection can cause ear drum infection. Avoid self cleaning with ear buds.
