What Causes Painful Intercourse?

Question: Hello,
I have been having issues with birth control pills and spotting and now it finally seems to have settled down. I had intercourse but once I was not properly lubricated and I was in pain. About two days later, I experienced spotting, which stopped again after one day. About a week or so later, I started to have itchiness and irritation especially when for example, cleaning myself with water in the shower, but no noticable change in discharge. A few weeks later now the symtoms have almost gone but it still feels a bit strange. I had infections before and it was far different from this. Also, when I feel inside my vagina it does not hurt or feel irritated at all but afterwards I do feel some irritation but very slight, I could just be feeling it because I'm paying attention to it. Lastly, when I approach my vaginal opening going down from the urethral opening, it feels very hard and just inside my vagina it feels very hard too on the front. Is any of this abnormal? I will see my gynaecologist again next month. I also experience some minor cramps but I have IBS so it could be that.
Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
hello,
i feel whatever you are feeling from the urethra till inside the vagina are the normal vaginal rugosities which in absence of enough moisture or lubrication may feel hard and rough. so its perfectly normal.
however it is better to get a vaginal smear done to rule out any infection possibly bacterial vaginosis which may cause earlier mentioned symptoms and may give such feel to the vagina.

What I mean is that it feels hard like bone and I wonder if it is because of my anatomy or something.
Is it possible for a possible bacterial infection to solve itself? The symptoms have lessened a lot.
Also is it normal for the cervix to be (very low during birth control use?)

Brief Answer:
thats pubic symphysis , part of pelvic bone
Detailed Answer:
hello,
what you possibly feel , the bony structure is the pubic symphysis ( pelvic bone part)as the urethra is just below it, thats normal.
Bacterial vaginosis needs to be confirmed first and it is not treated on its own.antibiotics would be required for the same, but treatment only after confirmation would be apt.
Thirdly , cervical descent is not because of birth control, it is due to loosening of uteine supports...please get your self a pelvic examination done by your physician to rule out any prolapse..

Thank you.
I had a pelvic exam just a few months ago and I doubt anything happened in the mean time to cause prolapse?

Brief Answer:
still pelvic exam is required...
Detailed Answer:
well in that case i feel its a subjective feeling if it has been looked for already recently .
but if you feel the cervix low, then an examination is warranted to evaluate the supports of uterus.
