What Causes Painful Swelling In Big Toe?
Question: My vein in big toe became swollen and cause lots of pain. The next day my toe where the vein is became black and blue.
Brief Answer:
Thromboembolism
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query.
Sudden swelling of vein with black or bluish discoloration is mainly due to thromboembolism. It means that something is blocking the vein resulting in occlusion of blood flow in digital arteries too.
This is emergency and you need to visit a local vascular surgeon for clinical examination and further management (removal of block). Investigation like doppler ultrasonography may be needed.
Hope i have answered you. You can ask next query.
Wish you good health.
