What Causes Painful Throat While Swallowing And Inflamed Tonsils?
Question: My throat hurts when I swallow. No white spots.my throat is red and my tonsils are inflamed. It hurts to touch from the outside too. My body aches. MY head hurts. I am assuming I have a fever since I'm either sweating or shivering. Basically I feel awful!

My throat has been hurting since 4/22 I the very late evening. It does hurt worse when I wake up. Hot liquid makes it feel better. I have not taken my temp
My two sons were both recently and very briefly sick. No meds needed. But no,9 I don't think I've been aroun anyone with fevers but I have been around people with sore throats, not strep.
Oh yes just OTC cold and flu meds

After Reading your answer it seems you have Acute Tonsillopharyngitis only, in such cases i advise the following, that you can discuss with your doctor:
1. Tab Augmentin 625 mg thrice a day for 5 days.
2. Tab Levocetrizine 5 mg once a day for 5 days
3. Warm saline gargles four times a day.
4. Tab Crocin for fever as on when required basis.
I expect that you will get improvement in next 3 days, but you should continue the medicines for 5 days.
