What Causes Painful Urination With Some White Discharge?
Question: Hi, I had a mild burning after i peed and a small amount of white discharge. I was in mexico and went to a doctor, I thought it was chylamidia, and so they did a culture and gave me 1 g azithromycin. symptoms went away by the next day. 5 days later i had testicular pain, and i thought maybe its gonorrhea, and so I went to another doctor and he just gave me a shot of penicillin in my butt plus 7 days of 100mg doxycycline. That was 3 weeks ago, and so far I have no symptoms. I am cleared of this infection. I called the first doctor and I had tested negative for chylamidia, so now I guess it is only gonorrhea or maybe trich. Occasionally i think my pee burns or my balls and perenium hurt but not sure if thats my overactive mind. no dischagre Also, about 1 centimeter down into my urethra it sometimes looks red and irritated.
Brief Answer:
Gonorrhea should be ruled out.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. The antibiotics you have taken also have coverage for Gonorrhea. But resistant cases are possible. So better to test for gonorrhea. If it is in doubt or positive then a shot of Ceftriaxone will be helpful to clear it.
Trichomonas also can give all symptoms you described. It is a most curable STD. A single dose of Metronidazole or Tinidazole will clear it. Antigen test or urine microscopy can be done to rule out this. But if this test is not available then you can with single dose of above mentioned antibiotic.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

i have 2g of azithromycin still. should I take that just to be sure it is all gone. will that also get rid of trich?
Brief Answer:
For Trichomonas azithromycin is not effective.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.
Thank you for your follow up.
For Trichomonas , Azithromycinis not effective. But if you repeat Azithromycin it might be effective for Gonorrhea if present. So you may repeat Azithromycin.
In case of Trichomonas, Metronidazole or Tinidazole will be needed after getting it checked by your doctor.

I has just one more question. I had 3 red spots on my lower thigh that looked like bug bites. they never filled with pus or looked like an ucler. just red spots smaller than a dime. a doctor said they looked like bug bites and since I was in the jungle i figured they were. they took about 2 weeks to go away. they went from bright red to fading. one had a little scab. is there anyway this could be herpes on my lower thigh? not near my genitals at all. outside the boxer region.
i should also mention they weren't painful at all and didn't itch. there was no tingle before they appeared either.
and they werent in a cluster but about 2 inches apart from one another. I didnt even think anything about it until today.

Brief Answer:
If not itchy and not painful then not likely herpes.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.
Thank you for your follow up.
If the rashes were not itchy or painful then it is not likely herpes. Herpes usually comes with burning sensation and irritation. It can be bug bites or mosquito bites. Some times bug or insect bite can lesion can last longer also. Nothing to worry about those.

I just tested negative for gonorrhea and chlyamidia and hiv. waiting for hsv results. like I said, i have had no sypmtons in weeks. I am just wondering if there is anyway this could be hsv? i had mild burning after i peed, then white discharge. after treated with azithromycin everything got better. then balls hurt 5 days later. got penicillin shot and doxy. no symptoms since, but like I said I did have 3 red spots that appeared on my lower thigh. didnt hurt itch or ulcer. went away in 2 weeks. i had no spots on my penis or near it. just a bit of redness inside the urethra about 1 cm down. I also wonder if I could have gotten normal bacteria in my body because my stomach was upset. I thought my lymph nodes might be swollen, but I cant tell if im just freaking out. they dont hurt and I cant even tell if they are swollen. I have just been feeling around.
Brief Answer:
HSV can give burning sensation but it will gradually go away.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.
Thank your follow up query.
HSV also can give burning sensation. But it eventually will go away. It can last 2 to 3 weeks. As you are doing a HSV test you an wait for the result. If positive then antiviral drugs like Valacyclovir can be taken for short duration.
But if negative the I would recommend a single dose of Tinidazole to cover Trichomonas also. You can ask your General Practitioner for prescription of this.
