What Causes Painless Red Bumps On The Buttocks?

Question: Hi, I have noticed red bumps on my butt that seem painless but are causing me concern. I have tried to get into a dermatologist but are backed out a month. I may have had a questionable sexual exposure 8 weeks ago, though I don't think so and my friends said. I did not, though I can't fully remember. At 8 weeks I've tested negative for everything, including HSV 1 and 2. I'm very afraid that's what this is. Can I attach a picture?

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for any Sexually transmitted infection in yourself after the minor episode of exposure.

After diligently analyzing the pictures let me reassure you first that overall there is no appearance or resemblance to any Sexually transmitted infection in your case including HSV.

The minor eruptions over the buttock area are relate to the blocked oil glands which are quite common to observe. These are formed due mild to moderate inflammation and blockage of the oil glands especially in your age group. Such kind of er could also be see over upper over lower back and even over shoulders too.

In my patients I suggest them to apply either Clindamycin 1% gel for two times a day. If there is any itching or irritation then an antihistamine such as loratadine could be taken for one to two times a day.

I hope this allays your fear for any of the Sexually transmitted diseases.

Doctor, I have now noticed two bumps on the back of my thigh. I have attached 2 new pictures. These are a little more painful. Last night I put Mupirocin on them and then 30 minutes later Hydrogren Peroxide. This caused my skin to burn, but I'm not sure if it was due to the chemical reaction. Do these look like HSV?

I have diligently analyzed your present latest pictures. After proper detailed analysis let me reassure you again that these are also related to simple folliculitis part. There is no resemblance with herpes. In herpes we find gripped vesicles which soon bursts up to form ulcers.

There is no correlation with above picture of herpes in your case.

So allay all your fears and relax yourself.

Do not try to pinch or pop or squeeze any of the area.

Doctor thank you very much for your help. I have attached a new picture of a red bump by my belly button I noticed yesterday. There were two hairs coming from it that I pulled out with tweezers. At first, the hair broke but I was able to pull it out. Today I am left with a red bump that itches. Photo is attached. Does this look like HSV?

I have diligently examined your pictures of belly button area and correlating g with the history I can make out simple inflammation due to pulling of the hair root.

It has got no resemblance with HSV or st other Sexually transmitted infection. So allay all your fears and relax for the same.

In my patients with this kind of inflammation I suggest them to apply an antibacterial cream such as Mupirocin or fucidin cream over the affected area for two times. Don't try to pinch or pop or touch the area repeatedly. Touching of jeans or clothes also causes more irritation and inflammation. So try to wear the clothes which are not touching the area.

Doctor, I really appreciate it. As you can tell, I am inspecting myself. I have a similar spot in my pubic hair and then noticed a red/purple spot with a hair in it that I plucked. Are these the same things (blocked hair/sweat) or should I worry? Photos attached. Thank you sir.
