What Causes Painless Red Spot On Upper Thigh?
Question: Have a painless red spot, slightly raised bump on my upper thigh/leg about 5 inches away from groin area. Noticed it three days ago. Had a small black center and white head of sorts when first noticed. Now it is simply red with a smaller white head.
No itching or pain associated with it. Does not look like a blister and has not ulcerated or popped. But the redness will not go away. Urgent care thought it was a bug bite, but obviously still have concerns about other things. 5 weeks last sexual encounter with low risk. Testing (5 months last encounter) prior to that was negative for HSV and all other diseases.

Doctor, attached are photos. The first two are the bump on my thigh. The second two are the much smaller bumps on my butt.
You can see the genital region to the left of the photo. No other symptoms. Check for fever and none. No flu like symptoms. No burning or other pain. Just mostlt annoying to look at .

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis.stop cortisone.take antibiotics.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
I went through the photos sent.
It appears to be folliculitis .
It may be due to bites or friction or hair ingrowing if you have trimmed hair to short.
Usually it is bacterial infection may be sometimes fungal.
Steroid like cortisone can worsen these or may induce it also.
My advice is as follows:
After consultation with your doctor,
-Please stop cortisone application.
-You can use topical antibiotic creams like mupirocin or fucidin daily.
-You can take antibiotics under doctors supervision like oral doxycycline 100 mg twice daily.
-Maintain hygiene and do not cut hair too short.
You can get back if any clarification is needed else please close discussion and rate .
Thank you
