It seems to me that the burnt feeling tongue (which you didn't seem to consider), and the ulcer and rawness of my palate and the hard boney pieces protruding through gums (trying to work their way out) in back of my mouth (back further than teethe) are all tied to a particular cause. The protrusions do not appear to be tartar that you can just scrape away. It is hard pieces with sharp edges and points. Salt is very painful to the back roof of my mouth (palate). I have had antibiotics for the terrible inflammation in my gums where the hard pointy pieces are trying to come through. The antibiotics greatly reduced the inflammation and pain, but something is still going on and getting worse.
bony spicules,burning mouth syndrome
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanx for following up of your queiry..sorry for the inconvenience you faced in following my suggestion ..palatal pain due to bony sharp things could be due to buccal or palatal alveolar plate - bony spicules..do you have previous extraction in that region??then u may need alveoloplasty, trimming of sharp bony spicules..burning tongue could be due to loss of papilla, or vitamin deficiencies or due to anemia.. So please get a complete blood tests and do consult a oral medicine and general physician for a thorough check up and treatment..hope it helps...take care..
antibiotics usage,rule out local causes
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thanks for follow up.
Loss of papilla can occur following medications especially antibiotics and analgesic usage. Were you on any other medicine besides the two. As the symptoms developed following medications, it may have been a cause.
Further even nutritional deficiency may cause loss of papillae and burning sensation. I see you already been tested for a few. And though the results are normal, I would put you on zinc supplement. Many of my patients with taste alterations have improved with zinc.
Besides the two (drug induced and nutritional deficiency) palatal ulcers may be due to secondary infection - bacteria or fungus. Trauma might be a cause too. You can discuss about those with your local doctor / oral surgeon. I would also want your hemoglobin and blood counts checked.
I hope it helps..
Take care..
