What Causes Pale Face After A Fall?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Oct 2016
Question: Hi, my 6 month old granddaughter was sitting on the floor playing. She fell back and bumped her head. After crying for a minute or so her face turned pale white. She's showing no signs of anything and still playing, but real white.

Brief Answer:
Unless ominous signs of head injury are present you need not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. The main concern in cases of head injury is whether there has been internal bleeding (inside the skull) occurring. If such a thing occurs, it is likely to be associated with the following ominous signs:
* Vomiting
* Severe headache
* Unconsciousness or altered consciousness
* Convulsions

If any of these are observed you would need to take the child to a hospital and get a CT Scan of brain done.

As such, if the child remains active and fine you need not worry. About the paleness that she has developed, a thorough clinical evaluation and correlation is needed and if apprehensive, I would insist you to take her to a doctor to get her clinically examined.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
