What Causes Passing Of Huge Chunk Of Purple Tissue From The Vagina Post Abortion?
Question: I had a miscarriage about 8 weeks ago. My ob gyn gave me cytotec pills to start the miscarriage since my body wasn't doing anything on its own. I had heavy bleeding for about a week and a half which eventually I ended up in the ER for. Once the doctor there freed up some tissue the bleeding lightened up. A transvaginal ultrasound showed some leftover clots but I was told eventually they would work themselves out. From there I had a follow up about 4 weeks ago where my internal exam looked and felt normal according to my doctor. Last week I had what I think was my first period since the miscarriage as it seemed like what my normal period usually is and lasted about 5 days. Today though I passed a huge chunk of hard purple/red tissue. Does this sound like leftover product or a decidual cast? Since passing this I've had some dull cramping but no bleeding. I have a picture I can send if necessary. I've also constantly had brownish/red but only when I wipe after using the bathroom for the past 8 weeks. Is this normal? I want to try and conceive again soon and am just nervous if there is anything left it might interfere. Also want to make sure this isn't something I need to immediately go to the ER for.

Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic. I have seen the attached image.
It seems like a product only.
Can you please send me your last ultrasound report so that I can correlate both of these.
Waiting for your response.

I will need to get the report from the hospital.
Brief Answer:
Repeat ultrasound advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again. You will have to get a repeat ultrasound done because it is not normal to bleed for that long after abortion . there are chances that this clit which you have passed was the rwaslm for bleeding which will resolve soon. But a repeat scan will help to know the actual cause. Regards

I will speak to my ob gyn on Monday and ask for
Them to do a repeat trans vaginal ultrasound because of this big clot that was passed. The bleeding I described over the past 8 weeks was only heavy for about a week and a half. After that I didn't even need to wear a pad...it was only a little bit of brown/red discharge when I would wipe. And then as I mentioned last week I had what I believe was my first period since the miscarriage. After passing this clot yesterday I've had some dull cramping. Is that normal?

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound is a must
Detailed Answer:
Yes dear, that's why I want you to have an ultrasound and see.
It is important as it can cause infection of the uterus which causes impairment of fertility in future so should not be taken lightly at all.
Get the ultrasound done and then we can discuss further management and if possible get this and old report of ultrasound too.
