What Causes Patches On Back Of Throat Along With Difficulty Breathing And Wheezing?

Those patches are known as Granular Pharyngitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. The patches on the back of the throat are known as Granular Pharyngitis. This is inflamed lymphoid tissue (tonsil like which is normally scattered all over the throat).
2. This signifies an irritation. inflammation of the throat. The most common causes include a Post Nasal Drip (PND), allergy, GERD and LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux). The runny nose , tickly cough originate i the nose and sinuses. A plain sinus CT will help rule out chronic sinusitis.
3. The peculiar distribution along the sides of the throat suggests a mild PND. In allergy and sever PND, the whole of the back of the throat would have Granular Pharyngitis or the Cobblestone appearance.
4. The dull ache on one side (right) of the throat, jaw and teeth indicate spread of inflammation to the soft tissue of the neck including muscles and regional lymph nodes.
5. Since you have had a month of anti-acidity medications, check the exact medications. Add an anti-reflux medication, an anti-allergic, mucolytic, anti-inflammatory and medicated gargles. There is some congestion at the back of the throat (prominent blood vessels). Hence a course of antibiotics and a short course of steroids under antibiotic cover may solve this problem earlier. This decision can be left to the examining and treating physician. Local nasal steroids and steam inhalation are also recommended if the Sinus CT is abnormal.
