What Causes Pea Sized Lump On A Lymph Node Near Clavicle?
Question: My 8 year old son has a pea-sized lump on a lymph node near his clavicle. He also has laryngitis and he seems a little bit tired. The pediatrician didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about but she doesn't know why he has this. Any advice?
Brief Answer:
Antibiotic course, Observe, FNAC
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Is this the only swelling your son has ?
This (near the clavicle) is the most unusual site for a lymph node to have; yes, but your your son has laryngitis and is tired. It is possible that the infection of the larynx has traveled through lymphatics to this particular has responded by enlarging.
The best way is to continue treatment for 1 to 3 weeks and see if this swelling is regressing to be not palpable.
If palpable- it is wise to undergo ultrasonography guided Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) to clear the doubts and be assured that this is the lymph node and is affected by the laryngitis.
