What Causes Peeling, Flaking Skin, Pain And Swelling In Lower Extremities?

Question: My husband has been suffering for the past 3 years from a skin condition, according to dermatologist the he has seen "contact derm. has undergone UV light, steroids, cortisone, various ointments to no avail. His skin flakes similar to a snake shedding, this is every day. His joints especially knees and lower extermities are swollen and painful. Numerous patch tests, medication have not helped. I am at my wits end, no one has bee able to find anything, patch tests, biopsy nothing has helped.

As per your narrated clinical details the possibility of associated autoimmune systemic disorder is very high.

I advise him to get a complete ANA profile .

Further management if any is based on the test reports .

If the ANA profile is positive its advisable to start a complete course of immunodulatory drugs.

If possible kindly get the skin images uploaded for a better assessment.
