What Causes Peeling Skin On Head Of Penis Post A Steroid Shot?
Question: Had a bad cold with shakes and fever. Went to DR and got two shots.... 1 steroid and 1 antibiotic. Also was given and oral steroid and doxycycline that I am just finishing now. Two days later, When I finally took a shower the skin on the head of my penis was peeling off. A week later I have an area the size of a quarter that is bright red and sore. It is as though my skin is gone. What do I do?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Cold and fever recently was a separate entity and has nothing to do with peeling skin likely. Steroid shot and doxycycline took care of that.
As far as peeling skin is concerned, that has multiple possibilities like dry skin , fungal infections like candidiasis or yeast, balanitis or balantidiasis etc. If the foreskin is not circumcised phimosis and paraphimosis can be expected.
Bright red sore may also be considered for eczema as well. If you had unprotected coitus recently you should get evaluated for other possibilities as well like syphilis as well.
Nutshell, get evaluated, have some baseline work up and let your doctor prescribe you some treatment for that.

Thank you for the feedback. I am having a hard time getting in to see a urologist... There is almost a month wait to get in. In the mean time is it ok for me to use cortisone??? What can I do to help treat myself, eliminate further infection, and get the skin to heal.. I am obviously not having sex of any kind until this is completely healed.

There is no harm in using over the counter hydrocortisone and antifungal creams over the penis . Try to get in touch with any doctor, urologist is not necessary, dermatologist or even PCP will be enough .
