What Causes Peripheral Joint Pain In Hands,feet,ankles And Wrist?
Question: I am having peripheral joint pain in my hands, feet, ankles and wrists. I am excessively tired and feel run down no matter how much I rest. my temperature is consistently between 96-97 degrees even though I feel like I have a fever. I am often nauseous and have a strong headache 4-5 days a week the entire day. I have very dark eye circles and my lips are slightly cyanotic. Recently the veins in my thighs, arms, and abdomen have become very visible as if theyre darker and more superficial and also seem a little enlarged. The veins in the soles of my feet and most severely the palms of my hands are distended and swollen and very painful. they tingle and also itch alot. I barely eat because of the way I feel however im still about ten pounds overweight despite consciously trying to lose weight and my abdomen is always very swollen as if im pregnant . All my labs are normal tho including my tsh which was .96. I am feeling especially bad overall today and I am getting concerned I could have a vascular problem that maybe acute such as throwing a clot somewhere.

You are suffering from polyarthitis, the cause of this might be Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus), psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis (OA), Infectious arthritis or crystal deposition arthritis.
Your symptoms are not related to blood clot or any vascular problem. Nutritional deficiency like Vitamin B 12 or D3 deficiency also needs to be ruled out.
To pinpoint the diagnosis, complete physical examination and investigations like complete blood counts, ESR, RA factor, CRP, serum uric acid, serum creatinine, X-ray and MRI joints from a rheumatologist are needed.

Thanks for getting back to me. Oddly enough I do have a rheumatologist because ive been getting tested for about the past year for different autoimmune diseases.He was most coconcerned about Wegeners but my ANA and biopsy came back negative so I have not been back to see him since July. I also have a 12mm spontaneous nasal septum perforation. Because the test were negative all they could come up with was that it was idiopathic. I also have eosinophillic esophagitis and chronic fatigue with alot of respiratory problems. I also just recently started having trouble with my eyes. They are constantly driving me crazy and there's always strings of mucous in them which I believe is called something like filamentary keratinitis? Today my hands and feet are alot more and the veins in my palms are so swollen its hard to close my hand. The headaches I have everyday are always becoming more intense and more frequent. I will definitely make an appointment with my rheumatologist on Monday but it will take awhile to get into him and I just didn't know if it was something more acute happening in addition to a possible autoimmune.

Your problems are not likely to be related to an acute cause. You can start with Vitamin D3 and Vitamin B12 supplements. You can also take a mild anti inflammatory like ibuprofen every 6 hourly to have some relief.
