Question: I have a persistant cough ,once it starts it won't stop until I use a puffer, I feel like I have phlegm in my throat yet I cough until I almost vomit and can't breath nothing comes up,I sleep elevated on my side I can't lay on my back to sleep, and it feels itchy between my shoulder blades but inside not on the out side. I had a course of Prednisolone it was fine whilst on them but it has returned bit by bit after 10 days of finishing the prescription its worse at night.

Brief Answer:
You need better inhaler drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion you are mostly having either bronchitis or asthma.
Asmol is having salbutamol. It is short acting beta 2 agonist (SABA).
It's action lasts for only 1-2 hours.
It is not good drug for long term control.
And no need to take oral prednisone unless it is strongly recommended.
In my opinion, you should consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
You need long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
LABA and ICS are preferred first line drugs for asthma. Both having long lasting action of 10-12 hours. And inhaled steroids are far better than oral steroids (prednisone). ICS is having very less systemic side effects and hence very safe in long term use.
You should also start antihistamines and anti allergic drugs.
So better to first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
