What Causes Persistent Cough At Night Despite Taking Medication?

Question: my daughter has had persistent cough now for about 2 weeks, she mostly coughs at night and cough syrups do not help. the only thing that seems to help is raw honey. her regular doctor says its just allergies and to give her zyrtec which I do but nothing helps. she and I are losing alot of sleep over this cough. can you help me?

I generally prescribe oral pills of Syrup AUGMENTIN (Co-Amoxyclav) 125 mg/5ml twice a day for 5 days.
