What Causes Persistent Cough?
Question: my daughter is 5 yrs old. she is coughing incessantly since last night. the doctor we showed to has given Defcort, Ambrosil-S, Laveta-M, Azithral but her coughing frequency still remains the same. please suggest whether the treatment is right or is there any medicine by which her coughing frequency can be reduced somewhat ?
Brief Answer:
yes they are good. add nebulisation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
From the prescription and your history it looks like wheeze associated lower respiratory infection.
The medicines are appropriate. Continue them.
Cough will take a few days to settle. The secretions have to come out by coughing only then she will feel better.
It is better to try salbutamol nebulisations twice daily if cough is very troublesome and continuous.
There is no harm in giving this nebulisations with oxygen in a hospital,or clinic. There are home nebulizers you can use as well.
This will help her get relief soon .
Wishing her speedy recovery.
