What Causes Persistent Coughing And Feeling Of Something Stuck In Throat?
Please help I am worried to death. Not go no children and really want a baby
Asked by Me , 14 hours ago
Please can you help me. I am worried sick. I am trying to conceive I have always had regular cycles varying from 27-31 day cycles. In January I had a 30 day cycle which I am fine about but in February I completely missed a period (negative pregnancy test) Doctor did a Day 21 Progesterone and it came back as not ovulated as was at less than 1. I finally came on at the beginning of March which then gave me a 41 day cycle. I have had another Day 21 this month and it has come back the same as less than 1. I am currently on day 27 of my cycle? Should I worry that I am not ovulating or is it because I have had the late period? I am worried it might be the menopause and I really want a baby. I am trying so hard. I have got an appointment with Fertility Specialist next week but I wonder if you can help me before then please. What if I don't ovulate? What if I have low progesterone I want to conceive naturally. I have had Day 21 in the past and everything has been good and Day 3 FSH was 4.2 which I believe is good.
Do you really see I need to panic? Please help asap. Please help I am crying that I will never be a MUM
Please ignore first question it all got mixed up. Here is my question:
My Dad is always coughing and feels like something is stuck in his throat. I am very worried as he is now losing weight (he can afford to lose weight as he is obese). We have been to the doctors who keep say it is thrush as he is on long term antibiotics for osteomyelitis of the spine. I am sure my dads neck seems swollen (gland area). I am worried to death he has some kind of cancer. Do you have any ideas please other than the worst I am thinking.
Many thanks
seems to be allergic bronchitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that your father is having presistent cough with waight loss. I would like to ask you few more details.
Is his cough is wet ( production of sputum) or dry ?
Is there any change of voice or difficulty in swallowing ?
Kindly get back to be with the details.
Based on your clinical details, it appears to be allergic cough with pharyngitis.
Persistent cough could be allergic bronchitis ( dry), chronic cough can induce throat pain leading to pharyngitis.
I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and get detailed ent examination, blood tests ( complete blood picture with esr to rule out infection), laryngoscopy ( to see deeper part of throat and voice box), x-ray chest to rule allergic cause. If necessary ultrasound neck and fine needle aspiration cytology for neck swelling with lymph node enlargement. depending on the examination reports further treatment is required accordingly.
Meantime, do steam inhalation, take anti allergic medication like tab. citrizine 10 mg one tab at bed time (over the counter), avoid freezer products consumption (curd/ ice cream).
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
He looks very pale and is generally feeling unwell.
I am worried sick it is something as nasty as cancer. He has been on antibiotics for osteomyelitis of the spine, shoulder and neck (still on antibiotics 6 months on)
Dad cant sleep for the cough, it sounds like he is choking its awful
cancer is very unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up. Cancer is very unlikely in his case. It looks like allergic bronchitis with acid reflux. Kindly follow the instructions and investigations as I have already mentioned.
Till then add tab. Prilosec (over the counter) twice daily before food ( half an hour prior) to curb gastric reflux. Chronic osteomyelitis requires antibiotics for a certain period to avoid complications.
Hope, I have answered your query.
Take care.
Laryngoscopy
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Might be antibiotic induced thrush. Do not worry, it will get cured by anti fungals.
Kindly go ahead for ent consultation and laryngoscopy.
Take care.
Always welcome.
