What Causes Persistent Diarrhea, Stomach Pain And Weakness?

Question: Hello Dr. Rynne: I am female, diabetic 64 years old and experienced a terrible diarreah two nights ago and I still feel very inflamated and weak. I do not know if I ate something, or it is stress or a urinary infection I just received results 2 days ago. Starting having stomach pains first for several days and Saturday started with several times going to bathroom until Monday night everything was liquid. No vomiting at all. Reduced food and took a lot of liquids but the diarreah continues. I just took lab samples because my doctor n Mexico ordered and they came positive with the urinary infection and need to start antibiotic but I do not have a doctor in my city San XXXXXXX XXXXXXX , My doctor from Mexico said a need a prescription with nitrofurantoina 100 mg every 8 hours.

Is it possible you can order my pharmacy this antibiotics plus what you recommend for the diarreah? Thank you. XXXXXXX

I am so sorry to hear about this urinary tract infection. unfortunately, antibiotics can only be prescribed by your doctor as per the regulations. for this, you must get to see just any doctor, be it at an ER service. For diarrhea, no specific drug. increased fluids intake is all that is needed. drugs to stop diarrhea are not encouraged in short lived diarrhea.

I hope you get to see a doctor for this prescription. I wish you well as your try to figure this out. keep me updated. in the interim, I will recommend cranberry juice just to get some cover, though not sufficient at this time.
