What Causes Persistent Fever And Cough Despite Taking Cephalexin?
Question: Hello, I have had a 101 temp since Monday with a little cough. My friend, who is a medical doctor came over with a bottle of Cephalexin 500 mg, twice a day. It has been five days, same fever same terrible feelinf, what to do?

If the fever is not reducing even after the antibiotic dose. It is very essential to know the cause of the fever. I suggest you to get an through investigations like CBC, peripheral smear for Malarial parasite and WIDAL along with urine routine. It is very unsafe to prescribe any sort of medicines without knowing the exact cause. Till then you can take paracetamol if you have any rise in temperature.
