What Causes Persistent Headache With Normal ECG And X Ray?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, I have asked questions before regarding a persistant headache that has been present for the past three weeks. I had a virus a month ago accompanied by muscle twitching which disappeared when distracted but comes back when im not occupied. The headaches are not severe but irritating. Most of them are either at the top of my head often on the right side and temples. I would describe it as an ache occasionally a boaring sort of feeling. Ive had bloods, urinalysis, chest xray, ecg, and several neurological exams and everything came back fine. I have consultated four doctors and all have put it down to anxiety as I have had a few traumatic experienses in recent months. Its just difficult for me to comprehend that these symptoms, and sometimes spells of feeling light headed are down to simply stress and anxiety? Is that really possible? Woul appreciate a 2nd opinion. Many thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Need some more details

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

With the above description, it does fit into a diagnosis of anxiety. I would like to know some more details to prove otherwise.

Do you get vomiting sensation during the headaches ?
Do flashes of light of loud noises trigger the headaches ?
Have you been taking any medications for the headache ?
Have you got your Blood pressure checked ?
Do you have any problems concerning ear, nose or throat ?
Do you get congestion in your eyes when you have headache ?

Thanks so so much for taking the time to answer! No vomiting sensations, a little travel sickness but not specifically when I have headaches. No loud noise or flashes of light trigger them. I am not on any meds for the headache. Had blood pressure checked and doctor said it was as it shuld be. No congestion in eyes. The only problem I have e.n.t is tinnitus in my left ear and I have had that for the past ten years.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the information.

With the above history and presentation, I am sure the headache you have is due to anxiety issues. You may try taking antianxiety medications like Alprazolam or Zolpidem. These medications may provide relief.

Also, practice mind relaxation techniques like meditation and Yoga. They do help.

Wish you good health.
