Question: I have been having heart palpatations at night...severe enough to wake me up and hurt....why?

Paplitation is usually caused by either physiological or pathological problem of heart.So few base line tests of cardiology should be done to rule out possibilty of cardiac pathology-
24 hour holter monitoring-Records or heart beat for next 24 hours and in case any abnomal beat is recorded we could see it on monitor.

2d echo to see if all physiological functions are normal.

Electrolytes levels.
please go through these tests and follow up with reports.
