What Causes Persistent Itching In Palm And Feet?
Question: i have insistent itching in hands (esp. fingers) and feet (tops of toes and foot). Have had the problem with feet only, occasionally, since fourth grade. No good diagnosis. It has returned with itching in the hands. Seems associated with hair follicles, though not always. Had Chicken Pox, Mumps and German Measles as a child. Any advice?

Brief Answer:
atopic dermatitis is most likely possibility
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
Thanks for replying to all queries.
As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is a condition of skin called Atopic dermatitis. It is characterised by generalised dryness of skin associated with itch. It is more common on hands and legs.
The course of disease is very variable. Yhe person is usually allergic and sensitive to all the possible allergens like dust, dirt deodrant, pollen grains etc.
The condition usually worsens in winter season.
In such cases, I advice my patients to apply liberal amount of moisturiser over body preferably semi wet body multiple times a day. For the rash, you may apply mild to moderate potency topical steroid like mometasone over the affected area.
Antihistaminics like levocetrizine also help.
Avoid exposure to any known allergen.
Visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription. You can share my opinion with him. I hope it helps.
Take care.
