What Causes Persistent Nausea And Bowel Disturbances With Long Standing Acid Reflux?

Question: I had what seems to have been a stomach virus that started about 10 days ago with nausea and fatigue. It got better after a couple of days, but nausea stayed. Then, vomiting and diahrrhea started 4 days ago and peaked with about 102-103 fever overnight that broke by the next morning. Diahrrea and vomiting also stopped, but slight nausea is still there, even today. Tonight, I had a bowel movement and it was very light colored like clay. I saw a GI specialist today to get a consult really around reflux and she felt my stomach and scheduled an endoscopy for Feb 20th, but I am wondering if I should go back to the doctor tomorrow and have any other tests run earlier or accellerate the endoscopy. my stomach up under the left side of my sternum and just under left rib just feels a little sensitive. I have had acid reflux/heartburn since I was a child and my stomach is sensitive to any acid, oil, spicy foods. I just went through a lot of stress caring for my mom with complex medical issues and she passed away. It seems like right around that time, that my stomach started acting up worse than ever - approx 3 weeks ago.

Brief Answer:
Two issues with different management

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
You have two health issues. One is the long standing acidity and reflux for which your doctor has scheduled an endoscopy. The endoscopy would reveal whether you have inflammation /ulcer in your esophagus, stomach or duodenum. It would also help in detecting whether you are infected by a bacteria H.Pylori causing the inflammation.
The second issue is a gut infection by a virus / bacteria causing the fever and the bowel disturbances. If the latter problems have settled, there is no hurry to do any urgent investigations and you can wait for the scheduled endoscopy. If you still have fever and diarrhea, it would be better to see your doctor again and have blood and stools tested.
Take care,
