What Causes Persistent Numbness On The Knee?

Question: in January I went to md due to onset of numbness in right knee which is my dominant side he took xrays no abnormalities were found he placed me on 60 mg prednisone qd x 1 wk and Mobic suspecting it was inflammatory issue. Another month passed still no relief not for one day seen another doctor who suspected ilotibial band and ran blood work following three months of pain I referred myself to ortho md who suspected maybe a meniscus tear ran a MRI of knee and above knee that was fine. He is know referring me to back specialist I have since had bilat heel pain and costant upper arm ache and knee numbness and pain I have also went to chiropractor 3x hoping for relief he took xrays and I have slight left tilt of L3 and L4 he did some adjusting but still in pain and my anxiety is beyond repair. Im scared and want someone to help I cant keep going back and forth can anyone tell me what is wrong with me!!!!

In addition I have noticed a change in bowel elimination I used to be very constipated as well and I am not now over the last two weeks its a lot easier to pass and have had belching a lot too

Thanks for posting your query.

Numbness most of the time indicates Nerve problem . You have been tested with Scans and Blood work but you were not tested for Nerve related diseases.

The nerve problem could be due to compression of nerve anywhere from your lower back to upper thigh region. You need to get a Nerve conduction study of your leg, this will prove that there is nerve damage. Once nerve damage is you may require MRI scan of your Lumbar spine.

Kindly get these test done and revert back with reports.

Till then get a prescription for Pregabalin and start using it.

COULD LOW ESTROGEN CONTRIBUTE TO CONSTANT NERVE PAIN I SUSPECT DUE TO HOT FLASHES AND NIGHT SWEATS AND FLUSHING FOR OVER A YR I AM PERIMENOPAUSAL WHEN I ASKED THE DOCTORS TO TEST MY HORMONES THEY REPLIED EVERY WOMAN HAS TO GO THRU IT. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY CORRELATION

No there is no correlation directly between Low estrogen and nerve pain. But one indirect relation can be proposed, that is a low estrogen causes bone weakening and may lead to vertebral ( back bone ) collapse. Vertebral collapse may lead to nerve compression which causes nerve pain.
