What Causes Persistent Sensation Of Lump In The Throat?
Question: I noticed a lump feeling in my throat and had a look at this. No pain but very itchy on one side more than the other. Last fever i had (in years) was probably about three months ago and lasted a day. Ear is itchy as well. The left side of my throat sems to have a bigger yellowish lump area. I touched it with a q tip and seems a little hard. Dr. appointment in two weeks but over-googling brought me here. Scared i have cancer? Any ideas?
Brief Answer:
Not cancer, needs investigation. May be normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Yes, there does seem to be a bulge in the upper posterior pharyngeal wall in the images and mild granular pharyngitis. It also look to be in the midline and slightly to the left.
2. This may be normal if it is hard to feel, usually the cervical spine. This is unlikely to be cancer.
3. Get a lateral cervical spine X-ray and upload the image. This should be done before any other investigations.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
