What Causes Persistent Severe Itching In Back And Face Along With Watery Eyes?

Question: In the summer of 2014 I went swimming in a lake. Two days later, my back, thighs, face, and eyes began to itch. Two weeks later, the itching drove me mad. I wound up on a mental health ward for sixteen days. They gave me anti-anxiety meds that didn’t work. Then they gave me some kind of steroid that worked great, but I was flying so high that they took me off that the very next day. After numerous blood testing for everything under the sun, they let me go saying, “we don’t know what it is”. A month later the allergy specialist also said she didn’t know what is wrong with me. The dermatologist took a skin biopsy of my back in the spot that itched the most, with negative findings. This XXXXXXX will make two years of taking nasal antihistamines and eyes drops. Now, my eyes water all day long, the itching has worsened and today I noticed that the XXXXXXX feeling inside my lids is actually tiny bubbles, like blisters, but with black heads on them. There are several on the bottom, inside both my eye lids and I’m sure there are some inside the top, too, but I can’t roll the lids up to see them. Any help you can suggest will be truly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Anti allergy drops.
Detailed Answer:
My dear, welcome to HCM.
Thanks for sending your query to us.
In a case of severe prolonged allergy like this ,oral anti histamine are tried and as a last resort oral steroids are given under controlled monitoring.
For eye itching oral medication again helps, but anti allergy eye drops and lubricant eye drops, many a times a day are helpful.
Since eye problem again is part of general picture, oral medical support is always helpful.
Any further queries in this regard please do get back to me.

My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
There are steroid preparations ,local, oral and eye drops which are supposed to bring a lot of relief to you but they have lot of complications in the long run so they are best avoiided.
Consult your physician and you will be fine in a short while.
