1. I knew it was due to CO because my symptoms were the same (though milder) as a previous CO exposure last year when my gas oven was malfunctioning (headache, nausea, achey joints, fatigue). This time when I felt fine away from home but became ill again at home. I suspected furnace was emitting low-level CO which had been building in closed house ever since the furnace was turned on. So I turned it off, aired out house. Symptoms left, but within a couple of weeks I began having the dark yellow,musty-smelling urine. It was really strong at first, but has been gradually getting fainter.
2. Exposure was about 2 months. Furnace turned on in Oct, gradual buildup of CO, and symptoms began appearing in XXXXXXX It wasn't until March before I suspected the furnace and turned it off.
3. No
4. No previous history of smelly urine. That wasn't a symptom of first CO exposure, though the dark urine color and fatigue were the same as last time.
5. Not on any medications
6. Appetite is fine
7. No yellow discoloration of my eyes or skin observed
8. Only other symptom remaining is fatigue.

Hello
thank you for the answers. I have gone through them. Acute management for CO poisoning is 100% standard oxygen theray or Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). They flood CO from blood and symptoms regress a soon as CO levels decrease. In your case we need to rule out certain other conditions related to urinary tract and kidney as well. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:
- visit hospital and get urine C & E done.
- baseline CBC
- Ultrasound KUB
- drink adequate water and fresh juices.
- Install carbon monoxide detectors
- Keep your fuel-burning appliances and engines properly vented
Labs will help to rule out other conditions. Further management will depend upon the lab results. If cleared then you can discuss use of 100 % oxygen therapy with your treating doctor to flood remaining CO .
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
