What Causes Persistent Tiredness, Extreme Anxiety And Tickling Sensation In Throat?

default
Posted on Thu, 17 Dec 2015
Question: Hello.. lately I've been feeling really tired throughout the day. It started a few weeks ago. Last month I was suffering from extreme anxiety! I was worried all day every day about a diagnosis of IBS. I've gotten blood work done 3 times at the e.r and they've all said everything was normal. The symptoms of my IBS have gone away and I thought my anxiety would go away since I'm back to normal. Then I started getting tired all the time and a tickle in my throat and wondered what this could possibly be or is it just the anxiety causing this??

Brief Answer:
It can be anxiety but thyroid and other workup needs to be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

Based on the history you have shared, it can all be due to anxiety. Sometimes anxiety may present like these symptoms including throat tickling and tiredness, instead of typical features of restlessness or disturbed sleep or over anxious spells. It is good that IBS symptoms have settled but still the trigger towards those could also be possibly anxiety disorder. However before concluding to this, some other first line causes of tiredness and fatiguability needs to be ruled out. To start with levels of thyroid, B12, folic acid, calcium, D3 and hemoglobin levels needs to be done. You can also start taking supplements for these before waiting for the levels. If symptoms persist, consulting a psychiatrist may become mandatory but Meanwhile modifying your life style to more social type, with involvement of recreational activities more often than before and getting good sleeps, involving in less strenuous activities and avoiding possible triggers of anxiety may decrease the symptoms gradually. Hoping you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
