Question: For the last three days my 18 year old grandson has experienced a queasy stomach and diarrhea during the day and vomiting at night. He is now in day three of these symptoms. We thought it was a stomach virus at first, but not so sure now. He has been attending school, but symptoms persist.

Brief Answer:
Food poisoning or viral gastroenteritis are the likely causes...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your son is in.

Having queasy stomach with diarrhea and vomiting is indicative for possible:
- food poisoning
- stomach virus

If you are sure he has not consumed bad foods, then, most probably it is stomach virus. I highly recommend to:
- encourage him to drink plenty of fluids (water and ORS to keep well hydrated)
- give him pepto bismol or tasectan to stop diarrhea
- advise to have light meals (yogurt, apple sauce, toast, rice)

If symptoms won't improve within a couple of days, should consult with his doctor. Further evaluations should be run to start a more specific treatment.

Wish fast recovery!
