Posted on Thu, 29 Sep 2016
Question: I have had watery green diarrhea for four days, only in the mornings, about 4 times a morning. It is a little crampy but basically painless. Then my day goes on as usual, until the next morning. What might this be?

Brief Answer:
Possible viral infection. Diarrhea may last up to 7 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Green color of the diarrhea its not an indicative for a any particular infection.

If it is watery, without blood or mucus then it is most probably a viral GI infection.
If this case, it will need around 5-7 days to go away.
Meanwhile, I would recommend to drink plenty of water, avoid milk, have a diet with rice, toast, banana ans apples...thing that you may have already done.

If you notice the diarrhea having blood or mucus, then you will need antibiotics. But just as I said it will need 7 days for you to see improvement.

Hope this is helpful.
